Crit Luallen on Friday, March 22, 2013, 6:00-8:00 pm, for a reception benefiting Emerge Kentucky, women leaders for a Democratic future.  The event will take place at the home of Linda Breathitt, 1405 Pendennis Circle, Lexington, KY.

$100 - Minimum suggested contribution
$250 - Recognition in promotional materials
$500 or more - Special recognition at the event

Lessons and Looking Ahead

Jessamine County Democrats,

I believe that the purpose of politics and of government ought to be to seek the best ways to empower and protect people.

My family has called almost the same patch of Kentucky soil home for a little over 200 years, and yes, it's right here in beautiful Jessamine County! Kentucky is in my blood and to stand up for her is my highest honor, privilege and deepest sense of responsibility. I do this through politics, activism, and even poetry. I will not back down from this endeavor.

To that end, I have followed my principles and values firmly to my dedication and service through the Democratic party. I believe in our party. I say that unflinchingly and with the highest resolve. I say that even in the face of things before us, the changing atmosphere in both Frankfort and Washington D.C. Let me say it again, I am proud to be a Democrat.

The Morning After

Congratulations to Russ Meyer - our new State Representative! The majority of Jessamine County will continue to be well-represented in Frankfort.

And a big win for our Sheriff, Kevin Corman! His strong leadership has earned bipartisan respect which earned him a resounding win.

Admittedly, though, last night was a tough night for Jessamine County Democrats. We had several strong candidates who were unsuccessful at the polls. Scripture says that "weeping may linger for the night. "

But the Psalmist goes on to remind us that "Joy cometh in the morning!" Our work is not done. We must carry on for our Democratic values of equality, fairness, and respect for all people.
